Movin' along...

So i've had a bit of a brain freeze the past few days. I don't know whether it's the weather or i've just temporarily lost my drive to dribble in this blog. But don't worry, i will be back once things start picking up.

Talking about things picking up, the past few days it's been super windy. There has been storm warnings and i can hear the windows rattling. First it was snow and now gale force winds. Sometimes it's like a mini hurricane is being brewed outside. But the forecast says that this weekend will be 16 degrees celcius so hopefully they're right!

But apart from the shift in weather, there just isn't really all that much to report.

Nothing that exciting has happened but then again i am in the countryside. My sister lives in a little village and life here is ummm... very quiet compared to the life i've lived. The most exciting thing that's happened this week was watching the rubbish men collect the yellow plastic recycled bins with these cool looking contraptions attached to their truck.

But one thing i will write about is that i'm finally getting a hang of the recycling matter. Remembering which bin each thing goes to requires some memory skills and i've never taken rubbish so seriously. Rubbish is separated into 3 coloured bins. One for bio-degradeable food items, another is for plastics and metals and the third is other items that can't be recycled. Then of course there's another bin for just paper. Apparently Germans take their recycling seriously along with having squeeky clean windows.

See i told you not much goes on.

So instead i watch tv in German. I already have a favorite program that i watch at 2pm. The show is about complete strangers looking for a place to live and they view various flats where they have to share with either one or a number of other flat mates. I can't say i understand much but i reckon 1-2% is better than nothing.

I could write about my waking up patterns and how i spend a portion of my day washing dishes/making sandwiches/cooking but i thought i'd save you the extra reading.

But on another note, early tomorrow morning Boobers and i are heading to our flat to clean it up. We officially move in on the 15th but due to some delay in our kitchen being built, we may not actually move in until next week. But we're getting majority of our items from IKEA so starting from Saturday we'll be busy putting together all the items.

The cable guy is going to install our connection, phone line and internet tomorrow as well, which is great seeing that we were told that there'd be a 2-week wait. But we still need to set up our account, so hopefully that'll be sorted that way i can have access to the outside world.

Slowly but surely, things are being done. I can't believe this Saturday i would have been here for 3 weeks already.

B to the O to the Double N

We didn't end up seeing that one flat that was literally next door to my sister's work place, the one i mentioned in my previous post. The guy didn't call back! How ruuUUuuuuude. Oh well... i guess it wasn't meant to be.

News flash:
We got the OK from the eco-friendly landlady. I guess we made a good impression because she SMSed Boo last night to say that she was happy to welcome us as tenants. We weighed the pros and cons again and after a few phone calls back home and various nicotine breaks, we decided to take the flat. And best part is we don't have to pay the real estate fee that usually comes with renting, which usually ends up being a shit load.

So yea! I'm movin' to Bonn!

It's insane to think that by next week i'll have moved again and will be unpacking my suitcase in my very own room. The lease will start as of the 15th, which coincidently is my 28th! So i guess moving to a new flat tops my "something is going to happen when i'm 27" premonition.

When i look back over the year, i think how crazy things have turned out. One of these days i'll have to take some time out to make a list just to recap. I guess we all have to move on sometime.

Anyway, tomorrow Boobers and i have to head to Bonn to look over the contract and take measurements of the flat. There's a bunch of furniture that my sister is allowed to take from her old place but we have to check whether it can all fit. We have to decorate/purchase a whole apartment from scratch practically, so we've already dog eared the IKEA catalog and circled items that have potential.

But i'm going to go have a smoke now... It's too bloody cold outside so Boo has allowed me to smoke in the kitchen with the window open. Even though the snow has nearly all melted it still flutters around the 1 degree celcius mark and the air feels like it's biting the marrow in my bones. I wouldn't be lying if i said it sometimes feels like my tits have frozen over! OK not so drama as that but it's pretty damn nippy.
