Bubblegum Colours and Phyllo Pastry.

I've been wearing my Royal Elastics since god knows how long that the white has permanently transformed to grey. They've accompanied me half way around the world and back. They've been to nearly every rave i've been to and surprisingly the soles have remained intact.

So anyway, J had to buy some work shoes at Deichmann yesterday and so i went along for the ride. The shoes there are much cheaper than everywhere else and if you're lucky you can get something nice.

Shopping in general, is very expensive on this side of the world and unfortunately, i do not have the money to buy those branded goods.

There i was proudly displaying my Amsterdam bag and wearing my very worn-in Royal Elastics and J hinted that maybe i wanted to buy a new pair. I felt like i was betraying my beloved shoes just by looking at the available sizes but i figured maybe it was time for a new look. And instead of high heels [which of course, i don't really wear] and clutch handbags that are way too small anyway, i had this sudden urge to relive my teenage years.

The store was closing, so i quickly browsed the shelves and with only a few seconds to decide i ended up getting a grey coloured in-house brand with super cute pink under soles.

And as girly as this might sound and on purpose mind you, my shoes totally matches my bag!

Bubblegum Goodness

...

We bought some frozen phyllo pastry last week and were trying to figure out something that we could make with it. So we bought some frozen tuna steaks, a packet of Knorr 3 Pepper sauce and with some imagination and some luck made a delicious filling. Instead of just adding water as the pack suggested we replaced it with cream, extra pepper, parsley and mixed cheese.

We first seared the lemon soaked tuna steaks and then when that was done broke them into little pieces and mixed it in with the sauce. OK it doesn't look too appetizing in the pan but i assure you it tasted much better than how it looks.

J absolutely hates white nearly all mushrooms so much that the slight taste of them would cause him to be violently ill. Honestly, i think it's all in his head since he recaps his childhood days of being forced to eat mushrooms and that has ruined him for life.

Poor guy.

And since moving in with him, i don't have the heart to buy them in case he might just end up throwing up all over the place. But i asked him if it was ok if i bought a box at the supermarket since they only cost a 1 Euro and he knows how much i absolutely L.O.V.E mushrooms. And anyway, he cooks meat once and awhile and i don't make a huge fuss.

So his puff pastry had everything minus the mushrooms and mine had everything he had plus extra mushrooms.

J made some kind of pocket and i filled each one, then J pinched the edges to seal them. We then shoved them in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

And within seconds of putting them in there they instantly started to blister. We crouched in front of the oven as if we were watching a speed car race on tv. It was so exciting to watch them puff up and those that weren't sealed properly would quietly vomit its insides out.

Actually, that part was quite gross to watch.

At the end of the cooking process, they reminded me of obese curry puffs. The smell of the buttery pastry continued to dance in the air whilst we tried not to burn our mouth with the piping hot filling.

I ended up stuffing my face with 3 of them all in 1 go but then later imagined the buttery goodness fatness happily setting camp on my arse and stomach.
