I thought this was a pretty interesting remix. It's a mash up of the top 25 most popular hit songs in 2009, according to Billboard Magazine by DJ Earworm. As of now, it has 19,057,135 views in Youtube and the number keeps growing. Craziness.

I have to admit though, as much as Pop is like a bad rash you can't get rid of, this remix kinda grows on ya.

We build up Castles in the Sky and in the Sand...

I'm horrible at remembering names and that includes the names of songs or tracks. Faces i can just about remember or at least try and place in my flashcards-type memory. They say, in order to remember someone's name especially if you're meeting them for the first time is to say their name back in the sentence that you introduce yourself and to at least use their name 3 times within a time frame.

So anyway this post is an example of how a tune is able to bring you back to a particular moment in your past. A representation of a Time in space. And how with a little luck and determination i was able to find the name of a particular track even though i had no idea who it was by and was unable to even remember a verse or a few key words.

Yes i am that useless.

Then by simply stumbling upon a Minimal House Electro Charts website and listening to the samples, i found it!

Yes i put my S-M-R-T cells together.

The first time i heard the track was at Rheingold, a club that J and i used to go to in Düsseldorf. They would often would play this tune at some point during the night. And each time i heard it, i would get that feel-good feeling inside. You know how some tunes you hear just makes you feel good. Well this particular tune makes me wanna cry, it's just beautiful.

At Rheingold they would focus spot lights on the massive disco ball hovering over the dance floor, which they would then lower slightly, as if some kind of space ship was about to land and the lights would beam off it. It was always beautiful to watch.

But of course, each time we left the club we wouldn't know the name of the tune or the DJ. So we'd always look forward to returning just so we could hear it.

So yea, over the weekend, J and i drove back to Düsseldorf to pick up more items from our old flat and to basically clean up a bit. And out of the blue on the radio, that particular track came on! It was the first time i heard it outside of the club but immediately my brain associated it was all the good times and summarized the past year in Düsseldorf.

And so here it is, "Sky and Sand" by Paul Kalkbrenner... Enjoy!



The video is snippets of the movie, Berlin Calling. Which was released only 3 weeks ago on DVD and one that i really want to watch. It's in German but it has English subtitles.

I don't often use the word "HATE" but there are a few exceptions. Or maybe my fear lies because i nearly pissed my pants when i was tricked into watching Stephen King's IT?

OH and i THINK this is the song i spent weeks looking for after hearing it once on the radio. I later spent days scrolling through EINS LIVE's radio playlist but was unsuccessful. However one cool feature on their site allows listeners to track back what songs have been played. Super handy as all one has to do is remember the day and time that they heard the song. Plus one can listen to the radio through one's computer with the web radio.

However, in my case, my sieve for a brain forgot the lyrics, melody and artist.

So it took me awhile until recently that i heard it again on the radio. But even now, i'm still not 100% sure whether THIS is the song i heard over a month ago and fell in love with.

But it's a beautiful song nevertheless.

I'm Yours

Since my beloved 60GB iPod died-ed on me within days of arriving on this side of the world [i'm sure that was a A sign], i've relied on borrowing Boobers iPod or using the radio on my Sony Ericsson.

Moving on.

So this morning i was on my way to the station and i stumbled upon a song that immediately brought a smile to my face... A tune i will definitely put in my Feel-Good Song category. Hmmm... I can't help but think i should be frolicking outdoors barefoot. I picture an icy-cold, alcoholic beverage in one hand... and my Bunny in the other.

Oh.

It's moments like these when you notice the shade of blue in the sky and can appreciate the warmth of the sun on ones skin. And whatever issues revolves around you seems to disappear and for that split moment is... is... perfect.

Sigh. Yes. I feel am loved.

I've had this song on repeat for most of the evening. It's beautiful. She's beautiful. Her voice sends soothing chills down my spine. Not only is the video pleasing to the eye but her lyrics evoke familiar thoughts and feelings i knew too well. There are metaphors flowing in from the left, right and center.

A past that eventually crippled me emotionally and tested my own existence. But the past year has kept me occupied and forced me to come face to face with the ugly side of Life... perhaps another of Lifes little tests? But with each disappointment and curve ball, somehow, someone, SOMETHING pushed me to land on all fours like a cat with nine lives.

And as a result my past has made me very weary and cautious. That's normal right?

But at last i have someone in my life and there are moments that i catch myself asking, when is it time to surrender my heart? My significant other continues to wrap me up in a blanket of comforting words and for once i feel wanted. Dare i say i even feel beautiful? There is definitely a bond that connects us although we are far apart. We miss each other more each day and i will continue to miss him as long as i live 7 hours ahead of him.

Technically, i can say i'm in his future. That sounds positive for a change and rather mushy *gasps*

So i guess i should take advantage of our time apart and continue to break down my walls even further. Who knows what lies behind. Strange how it's only been 4 months [shy of 10 days] but i'll admit i am scared ...its been such a long time coming, but I feel good and I'm still waiting for the rain to fall pour real life down on me cause I can't hold on to anything this good enough am I good enough for you to love me too?
