Our plan this weekend is to drive up to Amsterdam on Saturday because Hoong and Nick a.k.a [2/3 of the] Bass Agents are scheduled to play at a massive Q-dance event called In Qontrol.
Muchos gracias again to Supastaaar Didi for managing to score me two free normal passes for the event!
But no thanks to mother nature, the eruption of a volcano beneath Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull [i'm not even going to pretend to know how to pronounce that] glacier on Wednesday has sent a shit load of ash in the air.
"The major concern is that the ash could pose a very serious hazard to aircraft engines... If volcanic ash particles are ingested into a jet engine, they accumulate and clog the engines with molten glass" [source].
The UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, France and the Netherlands have been forced to ground all flights.
*gasps*
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport's front page states at 17:30:
Air traffic to and from the Netherlands will be gradually halted in the next few hours. Current expectations are that air traffic to and from the Netherlands will come to a complete standstill after 19.00 hours this evening, as a result of a cloud of volcanic ash caused by a volcanic eruption on Iceland.
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the airlines are asking passengers to stay tuned for further developments and contact their airline before leaving for the airport, to verify that their flight is still scheduled to depart.
In cooperation with KPN Internet is free of charge at the airport until tomorrow morning.
My fingers are crossed and i'm sending out random prayers that the wind changes tonight and blows the volcanic ash away from the planes' flight route and the boys make it on Saturday.
One of my reasons to even go to Amsterdam and In Qontrol is to see them play. God only knows that i should save my pretty pennies for a rainy day.
But i know they've worked their arses off and it's one of their dreams to even play at such an event. They deserve every right to be up there amongst the other so-called legends of Hardstyle.
So please Mister Weatherman... be nice.
