Easter in a nutshell.

The combination of rising temperatures and my lazy factor, gives me more reason to feel less guilty for spending the the last 15 hours in bed. Mind you i did wake up at lunch to make waffles and wash the stack of dishes. But then that burst of energy must have made me tired and i found myself back in bed. It doesn't help that J's been suffering from hayfever and has been having trouble sleeping with his asthma. So any chance he gets to rejuvenate he's out like a sack of potatoes.

I like to think i'm just catching up on lost sleep from days, weeks... even years ago.

Today is a public holiday and whilst most people were up and about going to church and celebrating Easter Monday, J and i just hung out at home. J's been on holiday for the past week and its' been really nice having him around. It surprises me that we haven't gotten sick of one another since we don't really have anybody else to see. Little L is now in Ireland and our weekends are basically free.

On Friday we decided we'd try and make the most of what sun was left and stepped out at 5pm. The sun was still burning and so we went to the Rhine to sit on the grass. Couples were seen everywhere. I guess now is the time when people get down and dirty. I always wondered why i knew so many people born in January and February.

Now you know what YOUR parents were up to the Easter before your birth. The sudden outburst of sunshine and colour gives people a reason to show off more flesh and show off their adoration for one another.

We then decided to visit Fischer's Kahn [that little house boat restaurant that J and i often go to] and have some coffee and beers before the sun went down. The weather was perfect that they were able to open up the roof so you could see outside and still get a tan whilst chilling inside.

It was very cozy.

Funny part was when we arrived the waiter recognised us.

Apparently, his boss did a google search and had found my post about their restaurant. He went on to say that all the staff had read it. Of course it was in English, so they had to translate it. J later found the translation but i guess when you translate it into German, it doesn't really make that much sense.

But i'm guessing they were happy. So happy that the waiter even took our coffee orders off our bill! It was totally not expected and we were very nicely surprised. That definitely made our day, so thank you again.

Saturday started late. We spent most of the day indoors but then saw a poster along the roadside saying there was an Easter carnival up the road from where we live at the Staufenplatz.

I'm not sure what we were expecting but it was definitely a lot less than what was there and again, we were nicely surprised. But i think the sudden oxygen intake must have gotten to my head because after a few rides, i had the most annoying headache that followed me into the supermarket. But it was fun nevertheless.

Then comes Sunday, we then thought we'd be daring and wake up early. We requested for the small table by the window we usually like sitting at at Fischer's Kahn for Easter. They were open for brunch, so we made a booking at 10:30am [the earliest we've been out for awhile].

There was a table of 6 sitting nearby who brought along their dog. It was so cute, it kept trying to grab any leftovers that J dropped on the floor. It was relatively well behaved and just sat their waiting for attention.

OK so back to the food...

The buffet was better than i had expected and everything tasted so good. The Sunday brunch runs from 10am - 3pm and i would definitely recommend it to anyone especially to those who like marinated tapas.

They had fresh croissants, huge chunks of fresh salmon, homemade aioli and an extensive range of food bits. J and i shared the 2 plates above and before i knew it with all the rolls and croissants, i was so full! We managed to stuff ourselves to the point that we couldn't move and ended up just staying there for 4 hours.

But i did take advantage of their free flow of Prosecco and we even brought along our game of Kniffel [Yatzi] to prolong our stay. But then at one point with the extreme glare and warmth, it got tiring keeping our eyes open, so we decided to call it a day and headed back home.

And that's pretty much how i spent my Easter weekend. Indulging in all the good things in life...

Yea the dog was super cute... and his eyes weren't cross eyed either as most of those dogs seem to be.

But i had a look at how much they cost here and they're about 400 Euro! *gulp*

Ms.Redd: Mmmmm... beeeeeer.

Hungers: Yea once we got home, i couldn't stop thinking about the croissants. I even put a roll in my bag because i didn't have the heart to leave it on my plate... so i savored the last crumb... eheheh.

As for the mag... I dunno. I haven't received anything in the mail either.

Attention to Bea: I thought the issue was out already? Hmmmm...
