The Return of Shadows and Long Days.

As of last weekend we had to put our clocks 1 hour ahead which means our sun filled hours gets extended. I remember during Winter the sun, if you could call it "sun" as it would be grey most of the days, would be down by 5pm. But yesterday i was surprised how late it was getting since the sun was only out of sight at 9pm. And apparently when it's high Summer the sun can set as late as 11pm. WooOooh. That's a sure way to mess up your head.

As the temperature has been climbing its' way up the last few days, i could already imagine people digging through their wardrobes for their Summer wear. It's amazing how much a little sun can do to a persons' wellbeing. It seems like people in general look more awake... alive.

But after spending the whole day indoors, J and i decided to sit out on our balcony to have a cigarette and watch the sunset. It had been awhile since i was able to wear my singlet and my pink Paul Frank shorts outside. In fact, feeling the sun bake on my skin was a weird sensation. Nice but strange. But i'm definitely not looking forward to the hot, sweaty kinda days. And i think we need to invest in roller blinds for the living room.

Some of you may know, i'm very much a night person. Mornings and I don't go very well together unless of course i've been up since the day before. But it'll be nice to be able to experience what a full day of sunshine might feel like.

Talking about sunshine, when i first arrived in Germany i wondered whenever there was a glimpse of sun, why Germans would be the first to strip down to their skimpiest outfits even though it was nowhere close to being warm enough.

But now i understand why.

Sun is a sure rarity here and to be able to see blue skies and your own shadow following beside you, is such an exciting feeling. It makes people do crazy things.

PS. I have no skimpy outfits therefore cannot join the unofficial Pasty Skin exhibition. However that said, i will sit out on my balcony and dare to be seen in a spaghetti strap singlet and nearly-there hot pants. Never mind that our balcony front reaches just below my waist and nobody can really see me from way below when i'm sitting behind the balcony plant boxes.
