Sweet Tooth and Eau de Chlorine.

I decided to bake a marble cake yesterday in hope that the sweet smell of freshly baked goods would lure J out of bed. After all they do say, the way to a mans' heart is through his stomach. But it didn't really work because he slept right through the baking process and it was only until i coughed loudly and shoved a piece of cake under his nose did he actually wake up.

But yesterday was his last day to sleep in before he had to return to work and after having a few slices he went right back into bed. So i kept myself occupied by playing a few rounds of Poker and was thankful that Lady Luck was on my side.

Eventually J woke up and the first thing he said was, so let's go swimming. And i could only reply with a tantrum and how lame that idea was. For over a month now we've been saying we'd go to the public pool and the thought of catching some kind of foot disease replays in my head.

It was past 7:30pm and apparently the entry cost is cheaper. So after a huge whine and weak attempt to try and find my bikini, i declared i couldn't go cause clearly i couldn't go naked. But J managed to find it. Damn. I then continued to huff and puff at how much i really didn't want to go swimming. And again repeating how late it was getting and that i was hungry. I even made every effort to try and dilly-dally, just to show my lack of motivation but that soon failed and eventually we made our way into the car and off we were to Düsselstrand.

Damn it.

It's been years since i've been to a public swimming pool. The changing rooms were unisex but they had decent sized changing rooms where one could get dressed. Male and female showers were separate and they were downstairs near the pool. There were a few open cubicles but it was basically an open shower concept. I'm only guessing Germans are very open about their sexuality/nakedness.

They had massive lockers so J and i could put our things inside. You just need to put a Euro in the slot and when you return to get your things, you get your Euro back.

The area was neatly organised with various whirlpools in the back and one larger one at the front. [Watch the video here]. There was also a separate pool for those people who want to do laps.

They had mini slides in the children section and the actual pool snaked around. The jets in the water allowed people sitting in the blow up rings to just float around. Apparently, during the day and when its' warmer the swimming pool connects outside and people can swim out there and it connects back inside. Interesting.

They had this one slide that you use when sitting on the ring. I can't tell you how many times i fell off my ring and went under but it was quite a few. They also had this one slide [but i didn't take a photo of it] it was called "The Black Hole". You had to climb up the spiral stairwell and the tube was pitch black! You'd be racing down this water tube in complete darkness. It was actually kind of freaky since it made all these twists and turns.

So after 2 plus hours of inhaling enough chlorine water and adding a few bruises to my list, i must say it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be.

Then on our way out i noticed in the car park they had these cute little prints on the floor. They were to educate/inform people that Children/Girlfriends should walk on the inside [away from the flow of traffic] whilst Parents/Boyfriends walk on the outside.

Hey Chrissie!

Glad to see the poker gods are on your side! It's tough trying to get them to like you all the time. Love getting paid off with quads!

Not sure if you know or not but I'm getting married in just under 2 weeks! Yay!

We coming to Europe for 7 weeks but unfortunately the closest I'm going to get to you will be an overnight stay at Nurburg coz I'm doing a 1/2 race day at the Nurburgring.

Glad to see all is well in your life though. Take care.

Cheers,
D.
