No Good Deed Goes Unnoticed.

My Saturday started relatively late considering Little L stayed over. Usually, i'm the one that gets woken up and attends to her hunger. But today, J was the lucky one but should we had bet for real who would be the one to be woken up first, i would have certainly lost.

But the day was one of those chain reaction kinda days...

Little L and J experimented with the crystal making kit but the end results will take 2 weeks. Then we decided to head out into the city to buy a few games for Little L's Vtech console.

Then we took a short stroll down the Rhine to our now favorite and only hangout, Fischer's Kahn - the little house boat restaurant we stumbled upon last weekend. I had a Weisen, some fresh bread with Aioli and yummy prawns on a healthy portion of fresh tomatoes.

Then the strangest thing happened. Or should i say things - plural...

As usual we dropped off Little L at home and parked by the side of the road. But this time, behind a BMW who so happened to be parked there too. I said my good-byes, exchanged a hearty hug and i sat back in the car to fiddle with the radio whilst J brought Little L upstairs.

J came back and we were only about a metre ahead, when a relatively tall, attractive woman stepped out of the parked car and tried to get our attention. Of course we stopped. Her cars' battery had died and wondered if we had any spark plugs to jump start her car.

And J being the very nice person that he is, said he did and we pulled up in front. After several failed attempts, it finally worked. And in exchange for J's kindness she gave him 2 Starbucks vouchers totaling 10 Euros! Yippee for free coffee and cake, how nice! We then waved our good-byes and headed off to the nearby Supermarket.

I think i was somewhere between the deep frozen fish department heading towards the milk aisle, when J calls out that he needs to run to the car. Apparently his car license plate number was announced on the loud speaker.

10 minutes later he returns.

What happened?

He forgot to pull his handbreak and the car had rolled out of its lot and was making its way through the car park roof top! And a bystander came to the rescue and informed the Management. Lucky for us the car didn't crash into any parked cars due to the fact it was nearly closing time and most of the cars had left.

So yea, you could say Lady Luck was surely looking out for us!

Then as we paying for our groceries, J noticed some plastic wedged between the conveyor belt and the edge that covers the end. He informs the cash register lady, so she helps remove it and they find a packet of turkey breast cold cuts hiding underneath. And basing it on the fact the pack was still cold, meant it must have come straight out of the fridge and the previous customer hadn't noticed it was missing.

So what does she do? Tells us that we can have it...

Usually, we wouldn't bother but then thought, it's still edible, turkey is rather tasty and best of all, it's free. I still don't eat flesh but J does, so why not.

And at the end of the day, we realised that the saying No Good Deed Goes Unnoticed is true. It must have been some kind of Universe payback-kind-of deal. And we would have tried our luck at the lottery but too bad the shop had already closed.

But i do wonder what good thing happened to the person who bothered to rescue our runaway car and travel 3 floors down to inform the Management.
