Desperately Seeking Sun...

I don't celebrate Easter despite being a Catholic. But i do know that Easter will be here in a few weeks and it also means 3 things; my project will be done, J will be on a break and we will finally be able to escape the nippy temperatures of Germany and spend quality couple time together. It's been awhile since we went on a holiday together, in fact, i think this will be the first time we'll jump on a plane together.

Originally, we thought Spain but not too long ago we saw on the news, some areas were snowing buckets. We're trying to escape the cold, not get trapped indoors!

We're thinking more Sun, Sand, Sleep...

And when i think of Ibiza, images of scantily clad men and women showing off their bronzed skin and girating to the sounds of Café Del Mar flash through my head. It's best to head there in Summer, i think. So i checked the flights from Düsseldorf to Ibiza and they are about 300 Euro/person. Hmmm... not exactly cheap considering that's only the flight costs. Then we thought Mallorca. I've seen photos and i've heard it's a nice place to visit. But Spain can get a bit pricey by the time you add food + drinks + transport + sight-seeing and so on.

But it all comes down to price, the cheaper the flight there and back, the better. Here are our few requirements;

1) Warmer weather
2) Fine sand beach
3) If the ocean is too cold, than a decent sized pool
4) Not too far away from the main centre
5) A few sights
6) Comfortable, safe and clean room
7) Somewhat quiet and not so commercialised
8) Affordable

So now we're thinking of heading to Turkey's Mediterranean shore, also known as the Turquoise Coast. They say April is the rainy season but if we do our research properly, i'm sure there are some areas that escape the downpour.

And over the weekend, i bought a travel Turkish South Coast guidebook. Yes, i know it's in German but i figured the photos are a good indicator of what to expect, although i'm hoping they aren't heavily photoshopped. But it makes sifting through the thousands of web pages much easier.

I checked out the Turkey Travel Planner and the site seems to have all the answers to my questions [costs involved, what to see, expectations, weather, non-peak season].

But wait...

Then i stumbled upon Olu Deniz which is in the South West coast of Turkey and all i can say is after looking at the photo on CheapTurkey[dot]com is... "Oh. My. Gawd... I. WANT."

Decisions... decisions.
