No, i will not get a pet fish or a terrapin.

The search for a kitty has been put on hold. Not only because we have plans to go on a short getaway soon but there seems to be a lack of available kittens. Apparently it's not the season.

Whilst waiting, i've even done the cat food price comparisons and have a rough idea as to which place has the better deal. Cents is money and at the end of the day, it all adds up.

Then i had this absurd idea that maybe a dog would be a nice.

This struck me when we were walking along the Rhine and i saw the open grass. I imagined the sun to be out, J and i would be sitting having a picnic amongst dozens of other couples plotted sparingly along the lawn. And we'd have a little dog on those extendable leads chewing on the overgrown grass.

I told J this and all he said was, "A dog? I haven't had a dog before, i guess we could try it". Curious as if he were tasting a new kind of cheese.

So here it is, my main reason for wanting a dog is so it would force me to go outside more often.

As some of you may know, the more hours one spends in front of the computer, the more pains are involved. And although i take Magnesium regularly to ease on the sore muscles, nothing is better than actual exercise. So i tell myself. And the new mousepad with gel support i bought has done absolutely bollicks to the comfort level and now my wrist is constantly sore.

But anyway, back to my point.

I think the area that we live in is perfect for walking a dog. Open spaces, ducks and rabbits to drive them crazy, numerous trees to mark their territory... what more could a bitch ask for? I think there's even some kind of dog walking community, so dogs are surely welcomed in the area.

And just when i think i've got it all sorted. The indecisive me kicks in. What if i have to go grocery shopping? I'm not leaving my dog tied up outside, haven't you heard of dog-nappers!? What about our elderly neighbors?

Our neighbor already knocked on our door once for having the TV too loud. Obviously, their lack of hearing hasn't caught on yet but thanks to them i am more conscious about the volume and find myself tip-toeing around the flat. Although i am surprised that they haven't knocked again for all the times i've dropped things on the floor.

Then there are those days that i love the silence.

I take full advantage of the luxury of sleeping in till whenever i please. Perhaps there's such a thing as a quiet dog? And when the weather is absolutely crap [like today], the last thing i would want to do is walk in my wellies in chilly temperatures cursing after my 4-legged friend because he refuses to do his business and take a pee. I guess that's the price you pay for wanting a dog to begin with.

But i do worry that should we decide on a puppy and we do go out somewhere and not return in time for "walkies", do we risk coming home to chewed up shoes, pee smelling potted plants and an angry neighbor with cotton wool stuffed in her ears?

Maybe i need to rethink this. And i guess that means i'm back to the drawing board again.

Thanks dy! Well i reckon realistically it's still gonna be a feline. Early morning walkies don't sit well with me unfortunately. ;)

random comment drop: a dog can be trained and their marvelous company =) speaking from experience as a new dog owner. Don't worry bout having to walk them at fixed times...they will suit your timing..and if its too cold, wrap yourself in warm clothing, take him to an open space, throw a ball for 10 mins then go home.. Cheers!! oh p/s research on breed before u buy ya

dy: Thanks, i'm looking forward to the weekend!

Random Comment Dropper: Well i think i'm more of a cat person [if there is such a thing] but we'll see what happens.

I guess each has its pros and cons. As for which breed, yes i'm busy reading up on those that fit my lifestyle. But may i ask what kind of dog you ended up getting?

P.S thanks ;)
